1of10 Alternatives for YouTube Video Ideas and Outlier Research
Published October 26, 2026 · Prices and features checked on each vendor's own site on October 26, 2026 · Written by the IdeaPhantom team (we make one of the tools below)
If you mainly use 1of10 for video ideas, IdeaPhantom is the closest alternative: it also builds ideas from what's working on other channels, but only does ideas, and its plans start lower ($7/month against 1of10's $19/month Basic). For a broader suite with keywords and trends, look at vidIQ. For tags and bulk edits, TubeBuddy. For competitor analytics, ViewStats. For outlier checks with no budget, a free outlier calculator and the manual top-channel method.
What 1of10 does
- Free plan: 60 credits a month, 1 connected channel, research tools limited (for example 5 outlier search results).
- Basic: 150 credits a month, up to 3 channels. Pro: 1,000 credits a month, unlimited channels, MCP and API access.
- AI title and idea generator: 8 credits per title or idea run, per the pricing page. Research tools (outlier search, thumbnail search, trending formats, competitor tracking) never use credits.
- The idea generator works from your channel or any competitor channel you enter. Its FAQ says there's no limit on ideas, while the pricing page lists a credit cost per run.
- Also an AI thumbnail generator and an AI video editor, on the same credits.
- 7-day money-back guarantee.
Price: Basic $19/month or $180/year; Pro $89/month or $828/year; Ultra $4,999/year (yearly only) (1of10 pricing, checked October 26, 2026).
Our view: 1of10 is strong when you use the whole package: outlier search across YouTube, thumbnails, titles, ideas and editing on one pool of credits. People look for alternatives when they only need one of those jobs, or when the plan with the credits they need is more than they want to pay. This page focuses on the ideas and outlier side.

Our view of who fits what. Prices and features below were checked October 26, 2026 on each vendor's own pages; confirm at checkout.
1. IdeaPhantom: ideas only, from the channels you choose
IdeaPhantom skips the research dashboards. You add channels (yours, competitors, or the top channels in a niche), grouped into projects. It analyzes their recent uploads to find which topics and formats attract views, and in under a minute returns 10–25 original ideas with a working title, a hook and a description. Niche transfer mode analyzes channels in one niche and generates ideas for another.
- Price: Lite $7/month (30 ideas/week); Pro $15/month (75 ideas/week); Ultra $24/month (150 ideas/week); Phantom $35/month (250 ideas/week). Projects and niche transfer on every plan; Phantom is unlimited with your own API key. Cancel anytime.
- Compared with 1of10: a weekly idea allowance instead of credits shared with thumbnails and editing. No outlier search across YouTube, no thumbnail generator, no video editor.
- Free option: no free plan; the free tools on this site need no account.

2. vidIQ: ideas inside a broad YouTube suite
- Free plan: 150 AI credits a month, niche trends, content ideas and AI Coach growth tips.
- Boost: 2,000 AI credits a month, personalized ideas, unlimited trends research, thumbnails and optimization tools.
- MAX: 6,000 AI credits a month and everything in Boost.
- A free AI video ideas generator that works from a niche or topic you type; vidIQ says its ideas come from trending topics and the keywords your audience searches.
- vidIQ MCP (use vidIQ inside Claude, ChatGPT and other AI tools) on every plan, including Free.
- Enterprise plans for more than 3 channels or teams, and a 1-on-1 coaching plan.
Price: Boost $19/month or $199/year; MAX $49/month or $468/year (one-channel US list prices; local pricing may vary) (vidIQ pricing, checked October 26, 2026).
Our view: a good fit if you also want keyword research, trends and coaching. Its ideas lean on trending topics and search keywords rather than channels you pick. Full comparison in vidIQ alternatives.
3. TubeBuddy: channel management and SEO
- Paid plans Pro and Legend, plus Enterprise with custom pricing. Some visits to the pricing page showed only Legend and Enterprise.
- Mostly channel-management and SEO tools: keyword and tag research, bulk editing, A/B testing, thumbnail and title tools.
- "Next Video Ideas" (in beta): analyzes your channel's videos, performance and comments, plus an optional "niche" (a group of channels you add), and returns a ranked list of ideas showing the signals behind each one, such as niche outliers, keyword competition and audience match.
- Next Video Ideas limits, per TubeBuddy's Help Center: 3 generations a month on Pro and Star, 15 on Legend; the pricing page lists unlimited on Enterprise. Its Help Center says paid plans only, while the tool page says every plan, so check before you rely on the free plan.
- A standard license covers one YouTube channel. 30-day refund policy.
Price: Its pricing page showed different plans and prices on different visits on the days we checked (for example two different monthly prices for Legend), so we don't quote one. See their pricing page. (TubeBuddy pricing, checked October 26, 2026).

4. ViewStats: competitor analytics
- Positioned as a YouTube analytics suite: compare your performance against competitors, track your niche and spot the formats and ideas that get clicks.
- Business plan for teams and agencies, starting at $249/month.
Price: Pro is shown in your local currency only, so we don't quote a dollar price. Business starts at $249/month. See their pricing page. (ViewStats pricing, checked October 26, 2026).
5. The free route: outlier maths by hand
1of10 describes its outlier search as finding “the videos that beat their channel's average by 10x or more, in any niche”. You can do the same check for free, one channel at a time:
- List 5–10 channels in your niche in the free YouTube competitor analysis template.
- For each channel, paste recent view counts into the YouTube outlier score calculator. It uses the channel's median views, which a single viral video can't drag up the way it drags up an average.
- Write down the format behind each outlier, then follow our guide on how to find YouTube video ideas from top channels.
- Turn a topic and a format into draft titles with the free YouTube video ideas generator.
It's slower than a tool that scans all of YouTube, and you only find outliers on channels you already know about. For choosing a niche in the first place, see YouTube niche research through top channels.

Paste the channels you already track in 1of10 into a project and compare the ideas. Plans start at $7/month.
FAQ
Is 1of10 free?
1of10 has a Free plan. On October 26, 2026 its pricing page listed 60 credits a month, 1 connected channel and limited research results (for example 5 outlier search results), with no card needed.
How much does 1of10 cost?
On October 26, 2026 1of10's pricing page listed: Basic $19/month or $180/year; Pro $89/month or $828/year; Ultra $4,999/year (yearly only). Ultra adds group coaching and a community. Plans differ mainly in credits and connected channels.
Is there a free alternative to 1of10's outlier search?
For one channel at a time, yes. An outlier is a video far above its own channel's usual views. Our free YouTube outlier score calculator divides a video's views by the channel's median views. It won't search all of YouTube for outliers the way 1of10 does, so it's slower, but it costs nothing.
1of10 or IdeaPhantom?
Both build ideas from what's working on other channels. 1of10 adds outlier search across YouTube, AI thumbnails and a video editor, on shared credits. IdeaPhantom only does ideas: you pick the channels, it returns 10-25 ideas per run with titles, hooks and descriptions, with a weekly idea allowance from $7/month. Pick 1of10 if you'll use the research and creation tools; pick IdeaPhantom if ideas are the job (our view, and we make IdeaPhantom).
What is niche transfer?
Taking a format that works in one niche and using it in another. In IdeaPhantom it's a mode: "It lets you borrow formats from other niches. Analyze fitness channels but generate ideas for your cooking channel. Same proven structures, completely different topic."
